Stainless Steel splashbacks

Stainless steel splashbacks are so useful in domestic kitchens compared with tiled walls which can easily get knocked and damaged and also the grout between the tiles is very difficult to keep clean and hygienic. I have seen many kitchens where wall tiles have been painted to try and make them more hygienic, but this can be a problem as the paint can peel off easily if the surface is not properly prepared. Grease and consequent discolouration of the grout is unhygienic, but splashbacks are the obvious answer to this problem and are very practical. The splashback surface is smooth and easy to wipe down and, of course, highly resistant to heat. After cooking, most grease marks and cooking splashes can simply be wiped away with a cloth and warm water. Because they are completely non porous and feature zero grout lines, cooking oils, tomato splatters, and curry pastes never have the chance to stain or discolour the rear wall. They provide a continuous, impervious barrier that keeps the masonry behind entirely free from mould, steam penetration, and stubborn grease build up.

After cooking, most grease marks and cooking splashes can simply be wiped away with a cloth and warm water. A quick wipe with mild soapy water or a standard microfibre cloth restores its clean, satin sheen in seconds, eliminating the need for abrasive scrubbing chemicals or toothbrushes to clean dirty tile joints.
Durability is another steel characteristic; stainless copes extremely well with everyday kitchen use. Unaffected by steam from kettles or pans, it doesn’t crack or shatter in the way some glass splashbacks do. It easily absorbs hard knocks from heavy frying pan handles, baking sheets, and heavy casserole pots without chipping, crazing, or fracturing under thermal shock. High output gas rings and intense radiant induction heat can run continuously without any danger of discolouring, scorching, or cracking the panel.
Appearance; although some people still associate stainless steel with commercial restaurant kitchens, modern brushed finishes work very well in domestic settings. It can look equally at home against wooden drawer fronts and cabinet doors or next to painted kitchen cabinets. The subtle metallic sheen reflects ambient daylight effortlessly, brightening dim worktop corners and making smaller cooking areas feel noticeably more open and spacious.
A brushed stainless finish considerably reduces reflections and gives a much more useful surface than polished steel. Existing stainless steel users will notice that stainless steel ages naturally. When you get small marks on the splashback surface, with simple correct maintenance, these tiny marks frequently blend into the grain rather than standing out dramatically. Instead of looking worn, the material tends to develop a patina, a more lived-in appearance, and actually adds to the character of the splashback over time. Stainless splashbacks can be fabricated to match bespoke stainless steel worktops, creating a particularly clean and practical finish. These worktops look even better with a hygienic welded-in sink. To make installation completely seamless, panels can be manufactured with precision laser cut cut outs for twin 13 amp plug sockets, cooker switches, or extractor isolators tailored exactly to your electrician’s first fix layout. You can also specify full height runs that extend directly from the worktop right up to the underside of wall cabinets or ceiling lines, completely avoiding exposed plaster.
A significant number of our enquiries come from returning customers looking to reinstall stainless splashbacks after moving house. Once you experience the total convenience of wiping away heavy cooking splatters without scouring grout, going back to traditional tiles feels like an unnecessary chore.
Originally designed for professional environments, splashbacks are made to fit neatly beneath custom commercial cooker hoods, providing an essential barrier against heat and grease. Whether you require a simple hob panel cut to standard range cooker widths or full length wraparound wall cladding, simply submit your height and width measurements via our quotation request form to receive a prompt, competitive price.
